Greetings! I’m David Fey, a strategic management and communication consultant based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Working for over 20 years as a change agent in the corporate, nonprofit and public sectors, I’ve observed a fundamental principle of change management: people and organizations often miss the mark by under or overreaching. When we under reach, we remain stuck with the status quo, unable to create real change. When we overreach, our efforts are dismissed or cannot be sustained, with the same result.
Sustainable change is most possible at the boundary between reality and vision, the space I call The Creative Margin. Accurately locating this “sweet spot” is the first step. It takes some work – with equal measures of honesty and discernment – but it is always possible. When you find it, priorities and next steps become obvious.
Using a combination of strategic thinking, project planning and communication tools, I work with the leaders of public, private and nonprofit organizations to assess current conditions, evaluate options, set direction and develop practical, immediate action plans. In many cases, this includes integrated communication strategies and materials.
